Giving is the natural, unforced interchange of one’s energy with that of others. In this sense, real giving is receiving. – Sangharakshita
The London Buddhist Centre runs on generosity. All teachers and class teams offer their time, skills and experience voluntarily. We are keen to develop this culture of generosity, so many of our events are free, but with an invitation to give what you can.
This culture of generosity extends to all levels of the centre. For example, everyone who works at the Centre, rather than being paid a wage, is given a ‘support’ package which covers their basic financial needs (food, rent etc.), with a little extra for spending and travel. It is therefore generosity that is the principle motivation for working at the centre, rather than status or the accumulation of wealth.
