Wellbeing, Meditation and Buddhism are the focus of a wide variety of drop-in sessions, day events, weekends, courses
and festivals held regularly at the London Buddhist Centre.
Wellbeing
Breathing Space is the London Buddhist Centre's Mindfulness for Health programme. We provide Mindfulness Based Approaches (MBAs) to help prevent relapse into depression and addiction, and to manage stress and anxiety.
Clinical research has shown that Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), is one of the most effective ways of preventing relapse into recurrent depression. Another approach, Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP), helps prevent relapse into addictive behaviour. Both courses help you become more aware of the habits of thinking that can lead into depression or addiction and teach you ways to change these habits.
Breathing Space is one of only a few providers of MBCT and MBRP in the UK. Our teachers are trained and supervised by a NHS consultant psychiatrist.

Buddhism
Over the last thirty years a ‘ Buddhist Village‘ has sprung up around the centre, This consists of Buddhist businesses (see map), residential communities, an arts centre and a community of people who engage with the practices taught at the centre. The LBC also runs retreats. These are an opportunity to live a simpler life in beautiful surroundings and to take practices such as meditation deeper. Many of the retreats are at Vajrasana, our retreat centre in rural Suffolk.
