meditation and Buddhism Classes

At our daily classes you'll receive meditation instruction and guidance, and meet others with similar aspirations. There are also classes if you want to explore Buddhism or take your meditation deeper.

We teach two fundamental meditation practices; the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana, the Development of Loving Kindness.

Newcomers - open to all, but specifically aimed at beginners
Going Deeper - for regulars, Mitras and those who have asked for ordination
Mandala - open to all

Drop in for a friendly informal exploration of the Buddha's teachings, starting with a short period of meditation.

Wednesday Daytime

Meditation and Buddhism
Daytime opportunity to learn to meditate, and find out about Buddhism's relevance to our lives. Creche facilities supported by experienced staff for children under 5.

This session: 'The Bodhisattva Ideal': Exploring metta and mindfulness in action in the world. Includes meditation, teaching and discussion.

First Wednesday of each month is devoted to meditation and puja.

Thursday Evening

Women's Class
With meditation, talks, study and ritual. A session on the Refuges and Precepts explored through teachings given by the Buddha in his last days, drawn from the Mahaparinibbana Sutta.

Open to all women who know the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana meditation practices.

Led by Shubha and Vanaraji.

Focusing on communal meditation and Buddhist ritual to sustain and deepen your personal practice, contact the mythical realm, and strengthen your confidence in the Dharma.

Friday Evening First Friday of every month

Young People's Group
Peer-led meet up: learn to meditate; discuss and connect. On the first Friday of every month, for anyone under 35 – find out about the Dharma in a way that's relevant to you. For more information, contact nextgeneration@lbc.org.uk.

Saturdays at the LBC

Open 10am-5pm, with a newcomers’ lunchtime class from 1-2pm, and a puja at 4pm. This is in addition to the weekend events we already run. Come to learn meditation, relax, discuss, help out.
