The Breathing Space Vision
Since the Breathing Space programme began in 2004, we have helped more than 300 people learn how to manage their mental health. Our aim is to help another 800 people over the next 10 years. But we believe we could help even more. Our vision for the Breathing Space programme is to become a centre of excellence for helping people manage their own mental health.
To help us achieve this, we are about to convert our basement into a new secular space - the ‘Breathing Space’ - to run our Mindfulness Based Therapy courses that help prevent people relapsing into depression and addiction, and to manage stress and chronic pain.
We already have high-level backing for this building project – with a £300,000 investment from the government-backed agency Futurebuilders. But most of this money is a loan, which we’ll have to pay back. As a relatively small charity, this loan is quite a burden. It could limit our ability to realise our radical long-term vision. That’s why we still need a lot of support.
